Instructions Not Included Review

Instructions Not Included Review

Since childhood, Valentino Bravo (Eugenio Derbez) was rather fearful person, especially because his father encouraged him and tried to raise the boy fearless. When he ran out of home screaming that he didn't love his father anymore, he became Acapulpo's playboy, surrounded by tourists day and night. Until one day a women name Julie (Jessica Lindsey), brought with her a baby girl (Loreto Peralta), claiming it was his daughter. That was when Valentino needed to overcome all his fears, to try to succeed as a responsible and caring father. Since then, the way of handling life totally changed, just because of one little human being.

This is one of the several comedy movies which actually has an interesting plot, engaging the audience all the way through. It's main topic is certainly the love between father and daughter, (parent with son), which overcomes any fear and any challenge life brings. How sometimes the negative surprise, firstly seen as a possible bump in life, becomes something that you depend on, a passion. The famous dictate says it all, "don't judge a book by it's cover".

Irony is another main thing present in the movie, being seen already in the main character's name, Valentino Bravo. As shown in the short summary, he wasn't brave at all, rather by the opposite, a faint-hearted person. With the arrival of her daughter, they became to live in L.A, California, when thinking she was in danger, trying to save her life, he jumped out of the 10th floor into the pool. Since then, with the major help of Maggie, he turned out to be a Hollywood dublĂȘ, just because she wanted too, only for her. And so, he became to have a bit more courage and earn his name. Another present irony in Instructions Not Included, is that even though Valentino is the grown up man, the father, he is the frightened person, and the supposed fragile kid, Maggie, she is the brave and courageous human which always cheers up the daddy when afraid.

Especially for this comedy being different, peculiar, consisting of an interesting and funny plot, I enjoyed very much the movie. After watching these engaging 120 minutes, I really had the desire of having a children, a daughter, one that I would love more than anything. I really wanted to be a father, to take care of someone.

And so, go directly to Netflix when free time arrives, and appreciate the comedy! Best for all!
